Established 1955

Registrations of Interest for the 2026/2027 Junior Surf Lifesaving Program (Nippers) are open. The program is for children aged 6 to 13 as at 30 September 2026.

Please read all information carefully before completing the registration form.
If you do not receive a registration confirmation email in
your inbox, please check your Junk or Spam folder for an email from
admin@pointleoslsc.com.au.

Please add admin@pointleoslsc.com.au to your safe senders
list.

The Registration of Interest list for the 2026/2027 season is open for all age groups U7 to U14. To register a child aged 6 to 13 as at 30 September 2026, please complete the form below once only for each child.

If your child does not turn 6 before 30 September 2026, please DO NOT register them. Proof of date of birth will be required if your child is offered a place in the program.

Please note that submitting a Registration of Interest does not mean your child has applied to join the club. Registration of interest places your child on a waiting list. Point Leo SLSC will contact you in mid to late October to advise whether a place in the program is available. Please do not email the club before 31 October to ask whether your child has been offered a place.

If you make a mistake in your registration, please email admin@pointleoslsc.com.au with the correct details. Please do not complete a second registration.

Places in the program are limited so we can provide a high-quality and safe program. Offers will depend on vacancies in each age group.

If your child is offered a place, all parents, guardians and caregivers are expected to become members of Point Leo SLSC. All parents, guardians and caregivers must also hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC), as required by the Point Leo SLSC Working With Children Check Policy. We strongly recommend that you read this information before registering your child.

Please also read the information on the Junior Surf Life Saving Program page so you understand how and when the program operates.

Junior evaluations and award requirements

Click here for a summary of the LSV Junior Evaluations and Award Requirements.

Children need to be able to swim competently to stay safe at the beach and take part in surf lifesaving activities. The Nippers program is not a “learn to swim” program. We strongly encourage families to enrol children in swimming lessons if needed.

We understand that swimming in the ocean is a new experience for many children. Even confident pool swimmers may find ocean swimming challenging at first. Our aim is to help children build confidence, develop ocean swimming skills and learn surf education through the Junior Development Program Awards.

At the first session, or before it, every Junior member must complete a Junior Preliminary Assessment with qualified Club assessors. This is an LSV requirement and must be completed before any water activity training or competition each season.

Junior Preliminary Evaluations, including the Preliminary Assessment, help assess each Nipper’s swimming ability. They are part of the Club’s duty of care and help manage risk.

Children who do not meet the required evaluation level may need extra supervision during water-based activities, at the Club’s discretion.

Competition Skills Evaluation is mandatory for U12 to U14 children who want to compete in any LSV or intra-club event. It is also mandatory for U9 to U11 children who want to compete in water events, excluding wade events.

Working With Children Check requirement for all parents, guardians and caregivers

To read the Point Leo SLSC Working With Children Check Policy and information, click here.

All Nipper parents, guardians and caregivers are expected to join the club. They must also hold a valid Working With Children Check with LSV and Point Leo SLSC listed as volunteer organisations, as required by our Working With Children Check Policy.

If parents, guardians or caregivers do not already have a valid WWCC, we recommend applying for one immediately. This will help your membership be processed quickly if your child is offered a place in the program.

If parents, guardians or caregivers already have a valid WWCC, we recommend updating the volunteer organisations as explained on the WWCC Information page. This will help your membership be processed quickly if your child is offered a place in the program.

We cannot accept any memberships until parents, guardians and caregivers have met the WWCC requirements.

Thank you for your interest in our program.
