The Registration of Interest list for the 2025/2026 season is open for all age groups U7 to U14 from 9am 1st August 2025. To register your interest for children aged 6yrs to 13yrs as at 30th September 2025 to join the 2025/2026 program please complete the form below once only for each child.
If your child does not turn 6 before 30th September 2025 please DO NOT register them on the list. Proof of date of birth is required if you are offered a position in the program.
Please note that your Registration of Interest is not an application to join the club, it is simply a waiting list. Point Leo SLSC will contact you in mid to late October to let you know if we have a position for your child in the program.
If you make an error on your registration please email admin@pointleoslsc.com.au and advise the correct details. Please do not complete a second registration.
Please note that our groups are limited so that we can ensure that we run a high quality, and most importantly, a safe program. Therefore positions in the program are dependent on any vacancies we may have in age groups.
Should your child obtain a position in our program it is expected that all parents/guardians/caregivers will also become a member of Point Leo SLSC. All parents/guardians/caregivers MUST hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) as per the Point Leo SLSC Working With Children Check Policy. We strongly recommend that you read this information carefully so that you are aware of our requirements before you register your child on this list.
Please also read the information on the Junior Surf Life Saving Program page to gain an understanding of how and when the program operates.
Dates for the 2025/2026 program will be available from the Junior Surf Life Saving Program page on this website when finalised (mid November).
Current Point Leo Member information
If your child is already a member at Point Leo SLSC please DO NOT register them on this form. You will receive membership renewal information via email from the club by 3rd August 2025. For current families with a new U7 child please DO NOT register your child on this list. When this year’s renewal information is sent to you it will have information on how to register your U7 child.
Junior Evaluations and Award Requirements
Click here for a summary of the LSV Junior Evaluations and Award Requirements.
Being able to swim competently is an integral part of making children safe at the beach as well as allowing them to actively participate and enjoy surf life saving activities. The Nippers program is not a “learn to swim” program. We strongly encourage you to enrol your children in “learn to swim” classes depending on their current ability.
We do recognise that swimming in the ocean is a new experience for many children and that even competent pool swimmers can find this challenging at first. Our aim is to encourage children and to help develop their confidence and skills swimming in the ocean as well as provide surf education (Junior Development Program Awards).
At the first session (or prior), it is an LSV prerequisite that every Junior member participate in a Preliminary Assessment conducted by qualified Club assessors, prior to any water activity training or competition being undertaken each season.
Junior Preliminary Evaluations (JPE) – including the Preliminary Assessment are a risk management procedure to assess the swimming capabilities of Nippers and are done as part of the Club’s duty of care.
Any child that does not meet the required evaluation level will require a higher level of supervision when involved in water-based activities, at the discretion of the club.
Competition Skills Evaluation is mandatory for U12-U14 to compete in ANY LSV and intra-club event and U9-U11 for water events only (excluding wade).
Working with Children Check requirement for ALL parents/guardians/caregivers
To read the Point Leo SLSC Working with Children Check Policy and Information click here.
All Nipper parents/guardians/caregivers are expected to join the club and must hold a valid Working With Children Check with LSV and Point Leo SLSC listed as volunteer organisations as per our Working with Children Check Policy.
If parents/guardians/caregivers don’t already hold a valid WWCC we recommend you apply for one immediately. If you are offered a position in the program this will ensure that your memberships are processed quickly.
If parents/guardians/caregivers currently hold a valid WWCC we recommend that you update the volunteer organisations as per the WWCC Information page so that if you are offered a position in the program your memberships are processed quickly.
We cannot accept any memberships unless the parents/guardians/caregivers members have met our WWCC requirements.
Thank you for your interest in our program.
