Point Leo SLSC requires more Active members and also requires those Active members to obtain more SLSA qualifications. The basic requirements around fulfilling our patrol functions are becoming increasingly more complex over time and we need to ensure every patrol has a full suite of qualifications to ensure we provide the highest possible care and safety for ourselves and the public.
Club Members have the opportunity to achieve a selection of awards and competencies through the volunteer training system. These are delivered by our club volunteer trainers and assessors and are categorised as follows:

Aquatic Rescue Courses
Aquatic Rescue courses available include:- Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC)
- Bronze Medallion (BM)
- Bronze Medallion Bridging Course (for current Surf Rescue Certificate holders)
- Radio Operator Certificate
- Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue
- Silver Medallion Patrol Captain
- Gold Medallion
Powercraft Courses
Powercraft courses available include:- Side-by-side Vehicle Operator
- Inflatable Rescue Boat Crew
- Inflatable Rescue Boat Driver
Health Unit Courses
Health Unit courses are accredited units of Competency and include:- Resuscitation (HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- First Aid (HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid)
- Advanced Resuscitation Techniques (HLTAID015 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation Techniques and Oxygen Therapy)
- Advanced Resuscitation Techniques & First Aid (Combined Course) (HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid) and (HLTAID015 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation Techniques and Oxygen Therapy)
