SURF SPORTS SUNSHINE COAST TRAINING CAMP REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW OPEN
The Point Leo Surf Sports Program aims to develop our members’ skills, fitness and confidence in surf lifesaving related sports. This year we are running a dedicated training camp for nippers through to masters.
Over the week long camp you will have the opportunity to be coached by some of the countries best athletes including Jamo Porter, Lana Rogers, Jett Kenny, Cooper Williams and Alexandra Headlands Head Coach Jack Hansen. Coaching caters for all standards of club members wanting to improve their surf sport skills, have fun, make new friends and for interested athletes work on high level training/competition skills. Coaching will be focussed on board, ski, swim and iron.
The program includes fully programmed daily coaching sessions run by elite coaches, transport fees for one board per participant, and green fees for a barefoot bowls social event. Optional social events such as a team welcome dinner, bbq dinner at the barefoot bowls event and daily social swims for parents.
Our base will be Alexandra Headlands SLSC (known by the locals at ‘Alex’) which is an outstanding facility situated directly on the beach with a large indoor and outdoor area with great views.

Point Leo Sunshine Coast Camp Dinner Booking for 26th September
Welcome dinner at Alex Surf Club, Sunday 26/09 @ 6pm 100pax, additional guests will be catered for in the bistro. Drinks can be purchased individually at the bar. Please list all special dietary requirements in your booking. For any dinner queries please email Marcus Ward.

Participant numbers are strictly capped and the camp is sure to sell out. Enter your child’s nipper age for the forthcoming 21/22 season as we encourage them to train on their respective age group craft, i.e. current U13’s will be considered U14’s and will train on cadet boards. U8’s & U9’s by prior arrangement and subject to a bronze parent in the water with them.
Please register on the form below and pay a $100 per participant non-refundable deposit (ie 1 Athlete + 1 Master = $200 deposit) using the online payment button on the Point Leo SLSC website (make sure you select Point Leo as your club and enter your name and Board camp in the details section). Balance due in full by 1 August 2021.

Camp package costs include transport of one board (per participant) on either the club’s nipper or senior trailer. TYou must indicate in the registration form whether you are borrowing a board or taking your own, along with the type of the board. This information is required for transport logistics. Please note that club boards can only be used for the training sessions and must be returned to the trailer at the conclusion of each session. Closer to the event we will arrange a time for personal crafts to be loaded into the trailers.
OPENING DINNER @ ALEXANDRA HEADLAND SLSC BISTRO, SUNDAY 26 SEPTEMBER
This dinner is not compulsory, but is a fun way of catching up with friends and celebrating a week in sunny Queensland. We will also be distributing the schedule for the week and be available to answer any camp questions you may have. A private dining room and set menu has been organised (costs $20 adults, $10 kids U12), with payment required in advance. Please book and pay using the dinner booking google sheet. Please note that this cost is unable to go through the Point Leo payment gateway.
BAREFOOT BOWLS @ CLUB MOOLOOLABA, WEDNESDAY 29 SEPTEMBER
Camp package costs for nippers, youth and masters include green fees to participate in a private social barefoot bowls event. Parents and siblings (8 years and over) are welcome to join in at an additional cost of $10 per person. Rubber bowls will be set up for younger siblings free of charge. A bbq dinner package is available consisting of a selection of meats, salads and sides at a cost of $15 kids, $24 adults & $24 vegetarians. Payment will be required in advance and again this cost is unable to go through the Point Leo payment gateway.
BRONZE MEDALLION COURSE
Andrew Gibson is offering to run a bronze course at the camp for parents who would like to develop water rescue skills in warm water conditions. It is anticipated that these sessions will run daily (daily timings to be confirmed). You will need to commit to doing the course theory work in advance of the camp and the qualification exam will take place back at Point Leo, traditionally in Nov/December. Please respond via comments if you are interested in obtaining your bronze medallion. Parents who have an interest in competing for Point Leo at Masters, or wish to volunteer as water safety at the nipper/youth program are required to hold a bronze medallion certificate. There is a $100 fee which covers the costs to hire the room for the week and resuscitation equipment.
