Boxing Day 2016
The Flinders Hotel Point Leo Swim Classic is third event on the Cousins Open Water Swim Calendar. It is held annually on Boxing Day over a distance of 1200 metres and this year we are donating funds to help construct an all abilities access track to the main beach. This initiative is being undertaken in conjunction with the Disabled Surfers Association (DSA) and the Point Leo Foreshore Committee.
In addition to this, the Point Leo Swim Classic will continue to participate in the Global Swim Series. There are already 14,000 swimmers participating in this series across countries such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, Ireland, Barbados and Brazil. This means that all participants in the Point Leo Swim Classic will automatically receive a global ranking! See www.globalswimseries.com for details.

Balnarring & District Community Bank 2.5 km Challenge
Held over the same course as the Point Leo Swim Classic, swimmers will complete two laps to finish the race. A cutoff time of 1.5 hours will be enforced (any remaining swimmers will be pulled from the water). There will be one leg in the swim that will be up to 600 metres long, depending on the conditions on the day. This year the cadet division has been divided into two sections: a junior cadet (12-U16) and senior cadet (16-U19).
400m Nipper & Novice Swims
This year the Nipper and Novice Swims will involve a 400m ocean swim. Set to encourage nippers and patrons who are not yet confident enough to tackle the 1200m swim, the Nipper and Novice swims make for a great starting point in open water swimming. Male and female place-getters of the Nipper and Novice swims will receive a medal in each age group. Nipper age group categories are 8-U10, U12 and U14 year olds. Novice swim is for swimmers 14 – 70+.
Honeysuckle 4km Beach Run
The most exciting beach run held over summer is back again! The Honeysuckle Beach Run is an enthralling 4km race starting from the Point Leo SLSC clubhouse, heading towards Crunchy Point where competitors turn around to come back past the clubhouse and head towards Honeysuckle Point, where once again they will turn to finish in front of the clubhouse and hundreds of supporters! Male and female place-getters will receive a medal in each age category. Honeysuckle Beach Run categories are Nipper 8-U12, Junior Cadet 12-U16, Senior Cadet 16-U19 and Open 19+.
